BenQ has long been one of the go-to manufacturers for professional-grade monitors for any variety of use cases, offering amazing color accuracy right out of the box and photo editing monitors with features designed to make photographers’ lives easier. Now two additional BenQ options provide even greater precision – both 27-inch monitors with Fine-Coated panel technology and certified color quality certification are now available! Here’s a closer look at each model from this iconic manufacturer.
BenQ PhotoVue SW272Q and SW272U designs share many similar features and specifications, featuring 27 inches with sleek new designs that incorporate detachable covers that keep desks clear of cables while offering more port coverage for easy organization.
BenQ also revamped their stand base, with a leatherette front that looks nice while protecting devices such as cameras, phones or monitor calibration tools from being scratched by bumpy floors. On both displays is an SD card slot, audio jack and two USB-A ports on their left sides whereas right sides provide a five-way controller to access menus and change settings along with function key/information keys as well as USB-C port providing 90W power – leaving less cord cluttering your desk!
Display Design & Color Accuracy
A key upgrade in the PhotoVue SW272Q and SW272U monitors is their new Fine-Coated panel, which boasts a “paper-like screen effect.” TUV Rheinland certified this monitor’s reflection-free performance; managing reflections while editing photos or videos can often become tedious and result in eye strain; it would therefore be exciting if this could potentially eliminate that struggle altogether.
The Fine-Coated panel does more than reduce reflections – when used in combination with BenQ Paper Color Sync software, it offers 99 percent coverage of Adobe RGB, DCI-P3 and Display P3 wide color gamuts with a Delta E = 1.5 color accuracy rating. Delta E measures color accuracy by measuring any variation between test color and reference color; experts cannot detect any perceivable difference when the delta E is under one; thus prints with an approximate Delta E value of 1.5 will produce results that look exactly like what was seen on screen during editing – streamlining printing processes significantly.
BenQ’s third-gen Uniformity and Color Consistency technologies further boost color performance, using high-precision apparatus to adjust hundreds of subregions on screen resulting in accurate hue across the entire display, making color matching multiple monitors easier than ever. Furthermore, their PhotoVue SW272U and SW272Q monitors have received certification by Pantone Validated SkinTone Verified and Calman Verified for color performance and calibration respectively.
BenQ PhotoVue SW272Q and SW272U Monitor Features
One of the key benefits of PhotoVue monitors is accessing BenQ’s Palette Master Ultimate calibration software, making the calibration process quick and simple. Although you will still require a calibration device like one from Datacolor for proper results, the software makes calibration simpler with its lower learning curve and shorter calibration times of 50 percent compared to its predecessor; its new algorithms also reduce Delta E by half for even more accurate results.
Palette Master Ultimate provides real-time reviews to compare results, something not available with its predecessor version of Palette Master. The program contains reference images preloaded, or you can input your own, while now exporting a detailed calibration report in pdf format is also possible. You will also have access to Paper Color Sync that lets you simulate a test print without using precious paper and ink resources.
Both PhotoVue SW272Q and SW272U models feature the brand-new hotkey puck G3, providing wireless functionality. The puck provides shortcuts to settings like color spaces, colors and contrast. Keys can be customized according to your workflow needs – there is even an easy switch key so that two monitors can be switched instantly!
