Review: NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 Lens – Striking a Balance Between Quality and Cost

I love an ultra-wide angle lens. They are much more versatile than their reputation suggests and allow me to capture images across many situations beyond their usual usage – this is particularly true of wide-angle zoom lenses with fast constant aperture like the NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 lens.

As of now, Nikon full-frame mirrorless cameras only have two other ultra-wide options without including third-party manual focus lenses, so it was welcome news when Nikon released another option – especially given its modest price point of $1200 for this 17-28mm f/2.8 lens with compact size, fast aperture, silent autofocus capabilities. Although there may be compromises along the way; I found this lens enjoyable shooting for quite some time!

Overview: This ultra-wide zoom lens boasts a versatile focal length range, fast f/2.8 aperture speed, strong autofocus performance and well-balanced image quality in a compact package.
